Recent Graduates To Continue Athletic Careers in College

There is a long list of 2013 high school graduates from Winona that are going to try and play sports in college starting in the fall. Bryan Rohde and Hunter Kruse of Winona High are both going to be playing baseball in college. Rohde is headed to St. Cloud State and Kruse to Iowa Central. Cotter’s Owen Burnikel will be joining Kruse to play baseball at Iowa Central. Nick Masyga of Cotter will be playing baseball at Ellsworth Community College. John DeMarais will try and play two sports in college. DeMarais will play baseball and football at Gustavus Adolphus.
Kenny Kirkvold from Cotter will be playing football at Minnesota-Duluth. Winona High running backs Eric Birth and Trevon Clark are both going to play at RCTC this fall and Kyle Semann is going to UW-River Falls.
Winona High’s Ellen Blacklock is headed to UW-Eau Claire to play basketball. Cotter’s Paige Gernes will play basketball at St. Thomas while Kelsey Stenzel will play at Saint Mary’s.
Cotter’s Kathleen Bowlin is the only player that is headed to college to play softball and she will play at UW-La Crosse.
Winona High’s Will Leaf will play golf at Southern Illinois-Edwardsville while Cotter's Charlie Kretchmer will tee it up at St. John’s.
Winona’s Crystal Franzwa is going to dive for the UW-Green Bay swim team while Cotter’s Alexandra Zuelke will swim at St. Catherine.
Cotter track athletes Jacob Johnson, Emilo Taiveaho and Joe Koll are moving on to college. Johnson will run at UW-Platteville, Taiveaho is going to UW-Eau Claire and Koll is headed to St. John’s.
And finally Cotter’s Ryan Grant is going to go to Saint Mary’s and will play hockey for the Cardinals.
