Former Winona High and Cotter Athletes Competing in College

There are a bunch of former Winona High and Cotter athletes that are currently playing in college. Seven foot one basketball player Alec Brown is entering his senior year at UW-Green Bay. Brown has re-written the record books at UW-Green Bay and last year he averaged 14.1 points 6 rebounds and 1.7 blocks. Brown owns the school records for blocks in a game, season and career and hE is eleventh on the school all-time rebounding list. This past season Brown was named second team all-Horizon League after being named to the first team his sophomore season. Brown is expected to get a chance to make to the NBA and may get picked in the NBA Draft following his senior season.
Mark Blacklock was a key reserve for the Winona State basketball team last season while Martin Feddersen plays for Gustavus Adolphus. Gus Cochran is playing basketball for Loras and Megan Lueck is playing at Minnesota-Duluth.
Chad Peterson is entering his senior season of playing football at St. Cloud State. Peterson was a second team all-NSIC pick last season after being named a honorable mention all-conference players his first two years. Thomas Lueck is playing football at Upper Iowa and Brandon Slocum is at St. Scholastica.
Jessica Young is competing in cross country and track at Winona State and she had a very successful junior season. Young helped lead WSU to the NCAA Division II national cross country meet where she placed 35th overall. She also finished seventh at the NSIC meet and owns the second best time in school history. Kyle Kastello is running track at Minnesota State-Moorhead and this past season he earned all-conference honors. Carmono Lane is running at Minnesota State-Mankato, Kelly Connor is competing at UW-La Crosse, Kayla Ewert is at Indiana Wesleyan, Sam Miner runs at Columbia University and Eric Mueller and Emma Larson are on the St. Olaf track teams.
Brandon Beech and Zac Benson are both playing baseball at Viterbo University. Beech was second on the team in runs scored and third in runs batted in last season. Lance Jensen is playing baseball at Ellsworth while Skylar Marks is transferring from Northern State to Century Community College. Joe Miller will play at UW-La Crosse this year after playing at Minnesota-Crookston last year. Dan Karnick is playing baseball at the University of Dubuque.
Macaela Trainor is playing softball for powerhouse St. Thomas.
Justin Bublitz is diving for the UW-La Crosse swimming and diving team and last season he was named a Division III honorable mention all-american. MacKenzie Brosnahan is swimming for Emery University, which has won the last four NCAA Division III national championships.
Cameron Weese is a starter on the UW-Platteville soccer team and he helped the Pioneers win the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and set a school record for most wins in a season.
Cherisse Wolvington is competing in Nordic skiing at St. Cloud State and she helped lead the Huskies to the NCAA Division II Nordic ski meet. The Huskies finished eighth as a team and she finished 41st overall.
Jon-Michael Brandt is competing in cross country and track and field at the University of Iowa.
