Frac Traffic Study

A completed traffic impact study for the city of Wabasha contains a preferred route through the city for frac sand trucks entering from Wisconsin and travelling to a train loading area.

The Wabasha County Herald reports that the preferred route would be along Bridge Avenue to Hiawatha Street and Highway 61 to the city's west side where the sand would be loaded on to
trains on the Canadian Pacific tracks for transport.

The study was reviewed by the Wabasha Planning Commission and was presented by Superior Sands Systems which is mining frac sand in western Wisconsin.
The 100-page document contains information on traffic counts and an analysis of potential truck routes.

The Commission set a tentative meeting for August 13th to make a decision regarding the study. The study was sought before the Wabasha decides whether to issue a permit for the frac loading facility.....
