The Executive Director of the National Child Protection Training Center in Winona will be the featured speaker this week at a conference in La Crosse.
The La Crosse Tribune reports Victor Vieth will speak on the topic "Faith, Healing, and Future Work: Creating Partnerships to Promote Child Protection." Vieth has headed the center on the Winona State campus since its began in 2003.
Vieth's talk will address how child sexual abuse takes on often unrecognized spiritual toll because many predators use religion to hush their victims. Vieth says churches and children's advocates need to acknowledge that influence to thwart abuse and help victims heal.
The conference takes place this Friday at the Viterbo Fine Arts Center.
