New Police Officer

The Winona Police Department has added another officer to its ranks.
29 year old Les Ladwig previously spent six years with the Fillmore County Sheriff's Department and is a fourth generation member of his family to serve in law enforcement. Les' father was a state patrol officer for 33 years, his grandfather, and former Winona County Commissioner, Lester Ladewig, was a Warren Township constable, and his great-grandfather was a special agent for Winona County.
The youngest Ladewig is a graduate of Rushford-Peterson High School and the Rochester Community and Technical College.  He will undergo 12 weeks of field training before being placed on a patrol shift.
Deputy Chief Tom Williams says the addition of Ladewig brings the department to 38 sworn officers.  The search is still on for another patrol officer plus Sargent Gary Hoeppner will be replaced after he retires at the end of this month having served 26 years.
