Traffic Fatalities



Preliminary reports of five traffic deaths this weekend has pushed Minnesota's death count over the 200-mark for the year, according to the Minnesota Department of Public Safety (DPS) Office of Traffic Safety.

The 2013 preliminary count of 202 road deaths represents the loss of 27 more lives compared to the 175 deaths reported at this time last year.

In southeastern Minnesota, there has been 1 traffic fatality in Winona County, 7 in Goodhue County, 6 in Olmstead Co., 3 in Wabasha County and 1 each in Fillmore and Houston counties.
            
This year's 202 deaths also include two bicyclists and eight pedestrians.
