Walz--Farm Bill

First District Congressman Tim Walz led a broad coalition of 50 members of the U-S House in sending a letter to Speaker John Boehner urging him to take immediate action and convene a Farm Bill conference committee before adjourning for a five-week August recess.
Joining Walz in signing the letter were Minnesota Congrssman Rick Nolan and Wisconsin Congressman Ron Kind of La Crosse.
With only nine legislative days scheduled by Boehner for the entire month of September, Walz said moving to conference now allows members time to work out an agreement during August.
With both chambers having passed different versions,  a conference committee must be called to resolve the differences between to two bills before a bipartisan bill can be signed into law.
The Senate formally requested a conference committee two weeks ago.
