The Winona County Board has given its unanimous blessing to an agreement with four other area counties to handle their electronic documents dealing with child protection, chemical dependency and adult mental health.
The implementation is part of a larger vision by Winona County to handle additional Human Services electronic documents from the other counties a well.
County I-P Director Mark Anderson said it's part of a one million dollar investment by Winona County which will be offset by revenues from the other counties.
Commissioner Marcia Ward favored the agreement but is seeking more accountability of how the county's money is being spent.
Anderson said the new electronic document system, which will use I-pads and I-phones, will provide better customer service and more accessible government.
It's hoped the entire system can be implemented within the next year.....
