There will be no future industrial development on Latsch Island following action taken by the Winona Port Authority Thursday.
City Manager Judy Bodway said the Port Authority removed a portion of Latsch Island that had been included in the proposed expansion of the Riverfront Development District.
Bodway said the portion of Latsch Island east of the interstate bridge was never part of the proposed expansion of the development district which was needed for the Winona Airport upgrade project.
She said even though the Dick's Marina area was removed from the district expansion it could still get assistance from the Port Authority in the future if it wants to upgrade.
The next step is for the Port Authority's recommendation to go before the city council on August 19th.
Bodway said the city hopes to hear by the end of August if it will receive the federal funding for the 12-million dollar airport project. The city will sell bonds to pay for its required 10 percent of the cost.....
