Former Winona State University administrator Jim Schmidt says he has found Eau Claire to be more welcoming than he ever imagined.
Schmidt began his new duties as Chancellor of U-W Eau Claire on July First after serving Winona State University since 1998.
Schmidt told the Eau Claire Leader Telegram that his first impression was that he has found the faculty that are not looking to do the least but looking to do the most.
Schmidt said he is particularly interested in issues surrounding alcohol on campus something that is not allowed on the Winona State campus. He said he is not going to try and change the culture overnight.
While at Winona State, Schmidt served as Vice President for Advancement. He is also a 1986 graduate of Winona State.
