Winona Fire Chief Curt Bittle says help is on the way for the Central Fire Station in the form of $3,000,000 worth of renovations, which is in the city's proposed Capital Improvement Plan for the next several years.
Bittle says the station needs a lot of work, including doors tall enough for the new fire trucks.
Bittle says the station also has plumbing and electrical issues and a leaky roof. He says the money could be used for extra inside storage as well.
Bittle took over as Chief from the retired Ed Krall three months ago. He started with the department as a firefighter in 1992 and has since served as an engineer and captain before being appointed Chief.
