Now that the Winona City Council has voted to give Municipal Consent on the Minnesota Department of Transportation plan for the new Highway 43 interstate bridge the project will move forward.

Mayor Mark Peterson says now the property acquisition process can continue and MnDOT can begin making offers to property owners.

Peterson says there are still several steps left before a final design and bridge type is settled on.

The current timeline is to start construction on the new bridge as early as next summer and be completed sometime between the Fall of 2019 and the Spring of 2020.
