Emergency Grazing

The USDA Farm Service Agency has authorized emergency grazing and haying of conservation reserve program acres in Buffalo, Eau Claire and Trempealeau counties.

The action was taken because of forage shortages due to winterkill and weather-caused delays in pasture and field growth. Feed losses of 40 percent or more were cited.

Emergency haying of CRP land ends Aug. 31. Grazing authorization ends Sept. 30. Rules limit haying of CPR acres to 50 percent, and grazing, 75 percent.
