Four separate fires made a busy week for the American Red Cross and their disaster volunteers.
On Sunday, August 18th, a fire in Mapleview left 1 adult and 3 children displaced. The following day, an apartment building in Redwood Falls affected 5 families, with 5 adults and 1 child needing area Red Cross assistance.
Saturday saw a house fire in Luverne which impacted a family of 5 people, and an electrical fire at a home in Wabasha on Sunday displaced a couple and their two visiting grandchildren.
Every 9 minutes, Red Cross volunteers and staff respond to a disaster somewhere in the US. The Red Cross mission is to provide for the victims' immediate emergency needs, such as food, clothing and shelter, as well as providing emotional support to the people who are affected by the disaster.
