Dayton-Frac Ban

Governor Mark Dayton says he would like to see silica sand mining in southeastern Minnesota banned.            

Dayton also told a Minnesota State Fair crowd, while speaking on Minnesota Public Radio, that he would also like to keep the so-called frack sand mining out of the entire state.

Dayton said while he was unsuccessful in getting the ban this year, he wants to try to get the southeastern Minnesota ban approved in 2014.

Several state agencies are working together now to establish some uniform regulations and guidelines to help local communities deal with the growing silica sand mining industry.....
