The Channel One Regional Food Bank in Rochester will be expanding.
The food distribution program is about to begin an effort to raise nearly 1.7 million dollars to almost double its warehouse area. It also wants to add more freezer-cooler space and open a community teaching kitchen.
The Rochester Post-Bulletin reports the agency hopes to begin construction of the 2,000 square foot addition in September.
Channel One distributes food to 13 southeastern Minnesota counties including Winona County.
The nonprofit agency is 32 years old and in 2012 distributed nearly nine million pounds of food to more than one hundred thousand people.
