A 22-year deputy sheriff in Buffalo County plans to retire on September 6th.
Deputy Karl Hoffmann of the town of Buffalo recently submitted his resignation after 22 years with the sheriff's department in Buffalo County.
Hoffmann was a Milwaukee city police officer prior to coming to Buffalo County. The county's law enforcement committee this week approved a resolution in support of hiring an officer to fill the upcoming vacancy.
Buffalo County Sheriff Mike Schmidtknecht said the department had a split time deputy sheriff, jail correction and radio operator qualified to post into the position.
Hoffmann's position is a full-time deputy patrol officer. The committee agreed to fill the vacancy with another full-time deputy job.
