Stewartville has been certified as one of three shovel ready cities in Minnesota by the Department of Employment and Economic Development.
Shovel Ready Certification means a city or developer has completed the necessary steps to make a site more attractive to companies that want to move quickly with plans to start up or expand their operations.
The other two cities certified as shovel ready are Pine City and Becker.
DEED says Stewartville's Schumann Business Park has 17.4 "Shovel Ready Certified" lots with an additional 100-plus adjacent acres ready for commercial and industrial development just off Interstate 90 and Highway 63.
The park is three miles South of the Rochester International Airport and about 8-miles from downtown Rochester and the Mayo Clinic which is planning a major expansion called "Destination Medical Center."..
