The Winona City Council Tuesday publicly acknowledged the Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Winona and their contributions to the fund raising efforts to reconstruct the Lake Park Bike Path.
Mayor Mark Peterson thanked Clint Kuhlman as he presented an imitation check to the city for nearly $84,500.
The money from Coca-Cola was raised by selling the last of the 6.5-ounce bottles of Coke. Thanks to over 70 overall contributors, Winona residents and visitors will soon enjoy a new bike path.
Work on the bike path is expected to be completed in the next 2 weeks.
In other business, the council unanimously approved the proposed 2014 budget and tax levy. The proposed levy amount is about 6.5 million dollars, a decrease from the 2013 levy of just over 6.6 million dollars. The council set December 2nd for a public hearing to get comments on the proposed budget and levy.
