The Stanley Cup makes its first-ever visit to Winona and the St. Mary's University campus on Friday when Chicago Blackhawks President and CEO, John McDonough brings it to his alma mater.
McDonough is a 1975 graduate of St. Mary's and Athletic Director Nicki Fenern says he will be the featured speaker at a 4:30 p.m. rally.
The public will also be able to have a chance to have a picture taken with the Stanley Cup, but only about 200 people will receive that honor. They will be chosen at 3:30 p.m. to receive special arm bands and can begin lining up at 1:30.
Fenern says the event will include some past SMU hockey alums and will be great for the hockey program.
A special public viewing opportunity will take place from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m......
