Twenty-four Minnesota organizations have been awarded grants totaling 6.2 million dollars from the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development to provide training and employment assistance to over 3,000 Minnesotans.
The awards were chosen from a competitive pool of 37 applications, with requests totaling over $20 million. The state workforce funding will leverage an additional 4.8 million dollars in partnerships and in-kind donations to the organizations to provide training services.
Receiving a $100,000 award was the Hiawatha Valley Adult Basic Education, Goodhue and Wabasha County Adult Career Pathway Initiative. The program is for adults who are returning to work after receiving public assistance, and for Hispanic-Latino adults.
