Winona State Football Team Heads to St. Cloud State

The Winona State football team plays on the road on Saturday night as the Warriors travel to St. Cloud State. Winona State will look to bounce from a heartbreaking loss in week one to Bemidji State. But the Warriors may have to do it without starting quarterback John Teigland who is questionable for Saturday’s game after suffering a concussion last weekend. If Teigland can’t go then the Warriors will turn to true freshman Jack Nelson from Byron.

St. Cloud State opened the season with a win over Southwest Minnesota State 49-35 last weekend and Huskies feature former Winona High prep standout Chad Peterson. Peterson plays wide receiver for the Huskies and also returns punts. Last season Peterson was second on the team in receiving with 36 catches for 524 yards and 4 touchdowns.
St. Cloud State features one of the best quarterbacks in the conference in dual threat Phillip Klaphake. Klaphake threw for 297 yards against Southwest Minnesota State and ran for 61 yards.
