Frontenac resident Andrea Swanson is headed to Colorado as an American Red Cross disaster volunteer. Flooding in Colorado has forced thousands of people to evacuate, and the Red Cross is providing emergency assistance throughout the affected area.
Swanson will be working in the area of disaster mental health, providing emotional support to the people experiencing the stress of the floods and evacuations. She has previously volunteered for the Red Cross, including going to New York to help out in the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy late last year.
You can help those affected by this and similar disasters by making a donation to support American Red Cross Disaster Relief.
