Thursday the Winona Area Public School Board heard an update on the latest student state testing data in math, reading and science.
Curriculum director Jenny Bushman told the board that the percentage of 4th grade math students were a bit above the state average of just over 71%.
Bushman says the overall scores in math showed Winona Area Public Schools at just over 59-percent proficient, 56-percent in reading and just over 52-percent in science.
Bushman says the next steps include continuing to monitor the cirriculum resources and instructural practices and continue making adjustments to more rigerous reading standards based on data.
In other business, the board approved the school district's preliminary 2014 property tax levy. The estimated levy is about 11.6-million dollars, an increase of about 4.5% over last years amount.
