The first formal negotiating session between the Winona Area Public School Board and the district's teachers on a new labor contract will take place next Monday, September 30th.
The latest contract expired on June 30th, but remains in effect until a new 2-year contract can be worked out.
The district's Human Resources Director Pat Blaisdell told Winona Radio News a sub-committee composed of representatives of both sides has already met a couple of times since July First to talk about preliminary details such as contract language before full committees on both sides hold their initial meeting next Monday at 4:30 p.m. at the district offices at Winona Senior High School.
Monday's session will be open to the public.
In 2010, the two sides settled two different contracts at the same time covering the periods of 2009 to 2011, and 2011 to 2013.
The first contract included a salary freeze but no step increase for eligible teachers...the second contract also had a salary freeze but also included a step increase for eligible teachers.
Blaisdell said she will once again head the district's negotiating team along with Fiscal Affairs Director Dan Pyan, and school board members Jay Kohner, Brian Zeller, and Steve Schild.
Among those representing the teachers will be Janet Luttmers, Luke Merchlewitz and Scott Halvorson.....
