Sheriff's Union Contract

The Buffalo County Human Resources Committee met in closed session with an attorney to discuss doing a classification study of law enforcement employees for retirement purposes.

Buffalo County law enforcement officers are union employees in the Wisconsin Professional Police Association (WPPA).  The sheriff, chief deputy and other supervisory personnel are not in the union.

In other actions, the committee agreed to offer Lauriann Grosskopf of Melrose,  $33 an hour if she accepts a position as director of the county Health & Human Services Department. A offer at $29 was turned down by Grosskopf.

County officials said a higher wage was justified because Grosskopf had a master's degree plus other education credits, certifications and work experience......
