A 15-year-old Winona boy is facing felony charges after Winona Police discovered he had been bringing a loaded handgun on to Winona Senior High School property.
Deputy Police Chief Tom Williams said the boy was arrested at the high school Monday after he and his parents came to the school to meet with school officials.
Williams said it started when a female observed the youth near the high school on September 26th with a 22-caliber handgun and reported it.
The police liaison officer interviewed other students the next day and discovered the boy had brought the gun to school numerous times over the last several weeks. According to a criminal complaint the boy allegedly had pointed the gun at the head of a student on one occasion.
Williams said the gun was recovered at a relative's home and turned out to be a 22-caliber revolver which police confiscated. Williams said the owner of the gun has not been determined or how the youth came into the custody of it.
The boy was jailed on preliminary felony charges of possession of a dangerous weapon on school grounds, second degree assault, and terroristic threats.....
