Winona Area Public School Superintendent Scott Hannon is urging students and parents alike to be sure to report any potentially dangerous situation at school to authorities right away.
Hannon spoke out at the School Board meeting Thursday after a student brought a loaded handgun on to Winona Senior High School property Monday.
Hannon says the fact that some students and a parent had known since May that the 15-year-old Winona boy had sometimes brought a gun to school is very troubling.
Hannon says it's vital that anyone seeing a weapon or dangerous situation at school tell administration or authorities right away.
The teen was jailed on preliminary felony charges of possession of a dangerous weapon on school grounds, second degree assault and terroristic threats.
