Hunting Accident

The Sheriff's Department says an 11-year-old Elgin boy was treated at a Rochester hospital on Saturday after the boy accidently shot himself in the foot while hunting.
Sheriff Dave Brand said Cole Thomas Rademacher was hunting with his father David Rademacher in the area of Highway 74 and County Road 26 when he spotted a squirrel in a tree.
The boy raised his 17-caliber rifle to fire a shot when the squirrel jumped to another tree. Brand said the youth then walked around the tree and that's when his father heard the gun go off.

Brand said the boy suffered a wound to his right foot.

The incident was reported at 6:00 p.m. Saturday.
