Dan Goltz of Winona was recently awarded the Joe Strub Memorial Award by the Association of Minnesota Emergency Managers for his contributions to the field of emergency management.
Goltz has served as a deputy or assistant to Emergency Management in Winona County for years and has been a steady contact for the La Crosse National Weather Service.
Goltz, who owns Goltz Pharmacy with his wife Nancy, has been very active with coordination and storm spotter organization, attending the "Train the Trainer" program and teaching numerous spotter classes in his area.
The award is a memorial to Joseph Strub who was the chief meteorologist at the National Weather Service Twin Cities Office. He was instrumental in interfacing the weather service with emergency management and public safety. The award winner is selected by vote of all six National Weather Service offices covering Minnesota.
