Sheriff Richard Anderson of the Trempealeau County Sheriff's Office, along with Court Services, UW Extension and Trempealeau County Health Care Center are working together to establish a joint garden project.
The garden will be located near the Health Care Center on County owned property.
The garden will be maintained by low risk inmates of the Trempealeau County Jail, Health Care Center clients, court ordered community service workers and community volunteers.
The project will be overseen by county personnel and a master gardner beginning next year.
The produce may be sold at local farmers markets with funds used to offset the cost of the garden, donated to the local food pantry and used in client and inmate meals.
Future plans include incorporating a community garden with plots available for the public.
