The City of Winona has applied for another grant application for the funding needed to repair the roof of the Masonic Temple.
Chad Ubl, Community Services Director, says the project is much needed because the roof is 20 years old.
$10,000 has been requested from the Minnesota Historical and Cultural Heritage Grant and the city would match up to $25,000 for the project.
Ubl says the city has been told a Historic Structure Report would be useful before moving forward.
The report would include input from architects to identify, understand, and preserve the archtectural heritage of the Masonic Temple as well as input from structural engineers.
The total estimated cost of the Masonic Temple project is $936,000 which includes building code issues, architectural repair and maintenance, repairs to the building structure and plumbing and electrical repairs.
