University of Minnesota Extension, Winona County is offering a Soils 101 course on Wednesday, November 13th, at St. Charles City Hall.
The course is an intensive, 8-hour class that provides a hands-on teaching environment for producers who want to learn more about the soils they farm.
The objectives of the class is to understand soil chemical, biological and physical characteristics, to help manage soil quality, improve soil structure, decrease tillage operations, and understand nutrient cycles in the soil.
The class size is limited to 15 producers to ensure interactive learning and plenty of time to ask individual questions. This class will offer 4 CEU's in Soil and Water, 2 CEU's in Nutrient Management, and 2 CEU's in Crop Management that can be self-reported.
The class costs $75 per person and covers class materials, refreshments, and lunch. Class runs from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Since space is limited, please register early. To receive registration materials sent to you by mail, call Winona County Extension at 457-6440.
