The Winona State men’s basketball team has been picked to finish second in the NSIC this season. The Warriors are tied with St. Cloud State for second place in the coaches’ preseason poll and both teams are behind preseason favorite Minnesota State-Mankato. Winona State returns two starters from last year’s team that qualified for the Elite Eight for the fourth time in school history. Seniors Taylor Cameron and Kellen Taylor return to lead a young squad. Cameron averaged 10.5 points and 5.3 rebounds while Taylor scored 6.5 points per game and grabbed 4.7 boards.
The Warriors are also ranked 25th in the preseason Division II Bulletin poll released Wednesday. Minnesota State-Mankato is ranked eighth and Augustana is 22nd.
Winona State will begin the exhibition season on November 2nd with an exhibition game with Illinois Wesleyan.
