A special documentary film on preventing men's violence along with a community dialogue, will be held this coming Monday, October 28th at 6:30 pm in WSU's Kryszko Commons.
Winona mayor Mark Peterson will give a welcome. Governor Mark Dayton has proclaimed October as "Domestic Violence Awareness Month."
The Winona premiere of the film: "With Impunity: Men and Gender Violence" will be screened followed by a dialogue led by two Minnesota leaders: Michael Paymar, the man who was a creator of the film and a St. Paul state legislator and Chuck Derry, co-founder of Gender Violence Institute and the Minnesota Men's Action Network: Alliance to Prevent Sexual & Domestic Violence.
Everyone in Winona county is welcome to see the film, participate in the dialogue, and find out what men can do prevent these crimes and stop the violence before it starts.
The event is free and open to the public.
With Impunity won the Best Local Documentary Award from Minneapolis-St. Paul Magazine and was nominated for a 2013 Mid-West Regional Emmy Award for Best Documentary.
The film and dialogue is co-sponsored by: Beyond Tough Guise; Women's Resource Center of Winona; Winona County Primary Prevention Project: Stop the Violence Before It Starts; and WSU Gender Based Violence Program......
