Winona County has been awarded federal funds from the Emergency Food and Shelter National Board Program.
Winona County has been selected to receive just over $15,000 to supplement emergency food and shelter programs in the county in 2013-14.
A Local Board consisting of local human service providers will determine how the funds awarded to Winona County are to be distributed among the emergency food and shelter programs run by local service agencies in the area.
Public or private voluntary agencies interested in applying for Emergency Food and Shelter Program funds must request an application from United Way of the Greater Winona Area at 452-4624 or by e-mail at unitedwayunitedwaywinona.org. Applications will be accepted no later than 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 6th.
In the past, Catholic Charities, Winona Volunteer Services, Women's Resource Center, and United Way of the Greater Winona Area have received funds, among others.
