Many farmers are using computers and online access to help run their agricultural businesses in Wisconsin.

Computer usage has trended upwards in recent years, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, which says 73 percent of farmers in Wisconsin own or lease computers.

Some 46 percent of farm businesses in the state incorporate use of computers in running their businesses.

Wisconsin farmers were ahead of national averages in farm use of computers and online web service including DSL and wireless connections.

Nationally, some 71 percent of crop farms use computers and 68 percent have Internet access, according to federal ag statistics......
