Rushford-Peterson School Expansion

A citizen's committee in Rushford is recommending the Rushford-Peterson school district construct a new early childhood through 12th grade school building with an estimated cost of nearly $35,000,000.

The Tri-County Record reports the final recommendation from the Future Facility Planning Committee calls for elimination of the over 100-year-old school building in Rushford and the school building in Peterson.

In addition, the recommendation calls for the new building to be constructed at an estimated cost of $34,400,000, on district property located near the current athletic field complex in Rushford.

The committee is looking at a possible referendum date in 2015 for a bond issue to help fund the project.

The recommendation now goes before the Rushford-Peterson school board for its consideration.

Funding mechanisms for a new building were discussed by the committee but not finalized.....
