The Winona Area Public School Board Thursday approved the Profile of Leadership for the selection of a new Superintendent of Schools.
BKB Search Consultant, Jerry Robicheau told the council the profile was developed based on interviews with board members, administrators, staff and teachers and a survey of district staff and the community.
Robicheau says the position has been posted nationally and internationally and the goal is to get a diverse pool to choose from.
Robicheau says the new superintendent will not face a major "fix'', with the district in overall sound shape.
Some of the qualities desired in a new superintendent include working within a collaborative leadership style, looking for creative ways to address student achievement and a someone with a strong record of educational administrative experience.
The timeline calls for the district to advertise the position vacancy until January 15th. The board will determine finalists, review interview proceedures and approve questions February 3rd during an evening working session of the board.
A finalist will be selected in early to mid-March and the new superintendent would start July 1st, 2014.
Current Superintendent, Scott Hannon, will retire at the end of next June.
