Southeastern Minnesota saw its first snowfall of the season early today, although it was a small one.
The National Weather Service reports the highest amount fell in Spring Valley in Fillmore County which measured 2.6 inches.
Caledonia reported 1.4 inches and one inch fell in Lanesboro
In Winona County, an observer in Elba reported a half an inch.
The light snow melted on roadways and the Minnesota Department of Transportation reported several vehicle crashes prior to 8:00 a.m. when temperatures turned colder and melted snow produced some patchy icy spots.
Several crashes were reported north of Rochester on Highway 52.
