"Remembering the Forgotten War" was the theme for the annual Veterans Day Program held in Lake Park Monday as a good crowd was on hand despite the chilly temperature.
Featured speaker, and Korean War veteran, Jim Miller spoke of his experiences in the Korean War and how his unit was practically wiped out when it was sent north to the Chinese border and encountered thousands of Chinese troops.
Miller said many of the troops were captured and held in a Chinese prison camp. One prisoner kept a list of those who died in the camp and turned it over to the Americans so there would be a record of those who died.
The program came during the 21st annual Veterans Day Vigil that started at midnight Sunday where veterans took turns standing one-hour watches in honor of those who served and died in the nation's wars.....
