A retired art glass salesman and owner of the Red Horse Gallery in Fountain City was appointed to a 1st Ward seat on the Fountain City Council.
The city council elected John Sagan to serve on the city council until next April, replacing Tyler Schmidtknecht, who resigned.
Two other candidates were considered for the appointment - Sol Simon and Jeff Falk. Sagan applied for an appointment earlier in the year when the council elected Kevin Brady to fill a vacancy in the 1st Ward.
This time around Sagan won appointment with three votes. Simon had two votes. Falk did not receive a vote.
Brady and aldermen Tim Schaffner and Steve Sing voted for Sagan. Aldermen Mike Schabacker and Mike Suntken voted for Simon.......
