Buffalo County Budget

Buffalo County has passed a 2014 budget without raising taxes, but plans to use 1.45 million dollars from account reserves to balance spending.

The county board of supervisors adopted a 15.66 million dollar budget and authorized raising 5.9 million dollar in taxes from property owners.

Buffalo County taxed at the maximum levy it could under state law that strictly limits and controls growth of local property taxes.

The county's actual tax levy went down $3,211 because of decreased aid requests for local bridge projects.

And the tax mill rate went down 1.2 percent to $6 and 1-cent per thousand dollars property value.

While public services remain intact for 2014, county board members say more controversial cuts might happen in 2015 if revenues stay tight.
