Christmas Lights Recycled

Thinking about throwing out those old Christmas lights which are all tangled up and maybe not even working?

There's a place where you can take them for recycling in both St. Charles and Winona.

The University of Minnesota Extension Service says the recycling Association of Minnesota is partnering with the U-of-M on "Recycle your Holidays," which recycles every part of the light strings and even the lights themselves.

You can drop off your old lights at the Winona County Recycling Center at 205 West Second Street and at Ace Hardware in St. Charles.

Nearly 650,000 pounds of holiday lighting have been recycled statewide since the program began. Minnesotans are saving over 5.4 million kilowatt hours of electricity and $430,000 each year.
