According to a new report from the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development, 31 businesses announced expansion projects in Minnesota during the third quarter and plan to create an estimated 1,500 new jobs statewide in coming years.
During the first three quarters of 2013, businesses announced 112 expansion projects statewide. Those expansion projects will create an estimated 5,600 new jobs in Minnesota over the next two years.
Among the business expansions announced this year in this region were the 6-billion dollar 20-year Destination Medical Center project in Rochester involving the Mayo Clinic, and Mayo's 28-million dollar expansion of its medical center in Cannon Falls.
Also making the list, Hormel Foods' expansion and upgrade of its Austin processing facility costing 25-million dollars. And...E-Z Fabricating, a custom steel fabricator, is planning an expansion to a new site in Chatfield. The 14,000 square foot project is expected to add 10-15 new jobs at the company.
Cytec Industries in Winona also announced in October it would be adding 60-to-70 new jobs in an expansion within its current facilities.
