The Winona Area Public School Board is still debating whether or not to include a spring break in next year's school calender.
Winona Senior High School Principal and Chair of the WAPS Calender Committee, Kelly Halverson, told the board the two draft options submitted both have spring breaks included.
Halverson says option 2 lines up the break, March 9th through the 13th, with Winona State University's spring break.
Board member Steve Schild voiced his concerns about a spring break because of the possibility of having too many snow day school cancellations, which would push back the end of school well into June.
Halverson told the board the calender committee will come up with a 3rd option that does not include a spring break and she will bring it back to the board for further discussion.
The 1st calender option has a spring break from March 30th through April 3rd with the fourth quarter ending on June 5th. Option 2 has a spring break from March 9th through the 13th with the quarter ending June 9th. Both options include 175 instructional days.
