County Board Levy

Winona County residents should see the county portion of their property taxes going down in 2014 after the County Board unanimously approved a reduction in the property tax levy.

The final approval was actually slightly lower than the zero percent increase the  board approved in September. The total levy will be just under $16,000,000.

The board also approved the 2014 budget totaling $43,247,000. That's a 3.5 percent reduction from the 2013 budget.

County Administrator Duane Hebert said the budget is based on current staffing and expected hirings to fill vacant positions.

In addition, the board authorized the Southeastern Minnesota Multi-County HRA, based in Wabasha, to levy $100,000 in property taxpayers who live outside the City of Winona.
