Senate Bonding Visit

The Minnesota Senate Capital Investment Committee stopped in Winona Tuesday as part of their three-day swing through southeastern Minnesota.

Committee members heard about several local projects that will be seeking funding from the 2014 bonding bill.

Committee Chair, LeRoy Stumpf, says one of the visits included Winona State University's proposed "Education Village.

Winona City Manager Judy Bodway talked about the needed funding for the extension of Louisa Street, citing safety reasons.

The total cost of the extension is over 8.4-million dollars and the city is requesting about half that amount in Capital Bond funds.

The committee also made a stop Tuesday in Red Wing. The tour stops on Wednesday include Rushford, Lanesboro, Chatfield and Rochester.
