No criminal charges will be filed against the suspended Lewiston police chief. KTTC TV reports the Olmsted County Attorney issued a statement saying Police Chief Joe Hastings will not face criminal charges following an investigation. Olmsted County Attorney Mark Ostrem said the investigation involved allegations that Hastings had committed illegal "interception of oral communications" which is a felony in Minnesota. Ostrem said he declined to file a criminal complaint against Hastings because of insufficient evidence to prove the allegations beyond a reasonable doubt. Hastings has been on paid leave while the investigation continued. Last month the Lewiston City Council extended interim Chief Troy Liebfried's interim duties until January First.
