Winona County Health Educator Andrea Gierok has been selected to receive the Minnesota Toward Zero Deaths Star Award in Education.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation says the award was presented at the recent Toward Zero Deaths conference in St. Cloud attended by more than 900 traffic safety professionals from across the state.

Gierok was honored for her accomplishments in setting up a parent night at driver education programs in southeast Minnesota, and by helping to establish a pilot project at several area driving schools in Winona, and Wabasha counties.

In the past two years, about 800 students and parents have been educated about teen driving risks and other issues.....
